Information Dissemination

Three months into a data analyst role at Daikin Europe, learning what the job actually asks: profile, clean, analyze, tell the story, and keep refining the black box of tools that gets you there.

Started my third month as a (customer) data analyst at Daikin Europe. I learned what it means to be a data analyst, or at least in my current role.

My manager, Darren, would tell me that it’s important to establish a process called information dissemination. It basically means I look for the data sources, the questions, analyze them, get the insights, put together a simple report, and tell it to someone.

So that’s what I do, trying to be as efficient as possible each time.

Data profiling, cleaning, processing, analyzing, reporting.

New challenges each time. I answer questions.

I find profiling and visualizing to be most important. Then tell stories out of it, as comprehensibly as possible.

How do I do it? Darren would call it my black box, which I need to refine and extend. All tools as long as I get some insight. Excel, SQL queries, BI, VS Code, Python libraries, AI agents, the company’s Copilot Premium. Use all resources to the best of my ability.

There’s still a lot more to learn.

Escalation rate by month and by product, and who writes the internal comment at each stage of a support ticket.

Time to close by product and by month, and the fault code families behind the tickets.
